Living differently, for a new chapter in your life
Are you not just looking for a place to live, but a place to live a stage of your life in a different way? A time to reorient yourself, experience life in a group and/or a change of pace?
We settled 9 years ago on an estate in natural surroundings in the Aude, west of Carcassonne, and are looking for new people to share a part of the journey with us.
Mongrenier is in a transition phase and could be sold in the next few years. We are therefore aimed at people who are attracted by an authentic life experience, with no promise of permanent settlement.
What we offer
a quiet living environment close to nature;
a cosmopolitan collective life experience;
a trial period of 6 weeks before any lease is signed;
APL is possible;
people with children are welcome;
easy access to Limoux and Carcassonne.
(The place is not suitable for people with reduced mobility.)
We are looking for people who
Are personally and emotionally autonomous, able to take care of themselves while participating in community life;
ready to contribute to daily tasks in the house and to common projects (gardening, agriculture, tourism, events);
open-minded, curious and creative;
financially independent; (the estate does not allow you to generate an income on site, except with tourism);
Ideally, skills in digital communication, marketing and tourism promotion in order to develop the visibility of our holiday home and our catering activity (a net third of the income can be considered for this mission).
Would you like to share a part of the journey with us? Contact us. We look forward to getting to know you.

MAINTENANCE & RENOVATION
Ongoing care, repair, and ecological renovation of shared spaces and farm structures, using natural materials and collective effort.
History of MONGRENIER
Nestled in the countryside of the Aude department of the Occitanie region, just a few kilometres from the village of Villarzel-du-Razès, Mongrenier belongs to a landscape shaped by centuries of rural life. This land has long been marked by agriculture, seasonal rhythms, and a close relationship between people and the soil.
Like many places in the area, Mongrenier is part of a territory whose history reaches back to medieval times, when land, villages, and farming estates formed an interconnected network around local communities. Over generations, this landscape has been cultivated, cared for, and transformed, carrying forward a quiet continuity of stewardship.
Today, the Collectif de Mongrenier builds on this living heritage — not as a monument to the past, but as a place where history, ecology, and collective life continue to evolve.
